Cap 200-300 mm broad x 40-90 mm radius x 40-60 mm thick, sessile or effused-reflexed, often hooflike, glabrous to finely tomentose, lumpy and often ridged in zones, buffy brown when young, typically covered with green algae or bryophytes in age. Pores angular, 5-6 per mm, pinkish buff; tubes in a single layer, up to 10 mm long. Stem absent. Spore Deposit white. Edibility: edible but too tough to eat.
