Cap 8-25 mm broad, conical, striate, radially appressed- fibrillose to silky-streaked, greasy, red to orangish red fading to yellow or brownish yellow, staining black overall in age. Gillss free, subdistant, broad, waxy, grayish yellowish white with red tones, blackening in age. Stem 25-60 x 2-4 mm, cylindrical, twisted-fibrous, glabrous, dry, yellow above, white below, staining black in age. Spore Deposit white. Edibility: reported to be mildly poisonous.
