Cap 30-60 mm broad and deep x 3-5 mm thick, fanshaped with contracted Stemlike base, single or with several fused; finely velvety to glabrous, wrinkled, dry, tough and leathery, with concentric zones of gray and brown. Spore surface of thin but tough Gillss that are forked and anastomosed, 1-4 mm deep, edges often toothed or eroded, dark grayish brown. Stem absent. Spore Deposit white. Edibility: edible but too tough to eat.
