Distribution In the Hawaiian Islands, endemic to Kaua`i.
Habit Suffruticose perennial herbs; stems decumbent, rooting at the nodes, 10-20 dm long.
Leaves Leaves linear to narrowly elliptic, 4.7-5 cm long, 0.5-0.8 cm wide, upper surface strigillose along major veins, lower surface evenly strigillose, margins scarcely serrate, petioles 0.5-0.8 cm long. Flowers
Flowers Heads solitary or in clusters of 2-3; outer involucral bracts often purple in lower 1/4, lanceolate, 3-4 mm long, 1.5-2 mm wide, strigillose, apex attenuate; chaffy bracts often purple near apex; ray florets 4-5 per head, rays narrowly ovate, 3.2-3.5 mm long, 2.8-2.9 mm wide; disk florets 20-25 per head, corollas 5-merous, 2.3-2.8 mm long; anthers 1.2-1.4 mm long; pappus of scales connate at base and tipped with short deciduous awns.
Fruit Achenes tuberculate, ray achenes 2.2-2.5 mm long, 1.7-2.3 mm wide, with wings ca. 0.2 mm long, disk achenes 2.2-2.4 mm long, 1.2-1.6 mm wide, with wings ca. 0.1 mm long. Chromosomes 2n = 30*
