Description as for the species. Fronds are flat, ovate, lanceolate, elliptic, or oblong, not long-linear and bottlebrushlike. Sori are subterminal.

Adenophorus tamariscinus var. tamariscinus may be distinguished from var. montanus by its generally flat blades, and sori that are subterminal, not protruding from margins.
