Growing along the side of a trail in Foster's Botanical garden. Flat slope, surrounded by other trees, but the tallest tree, receiving full sunlight. Shading out trees beneath it. Average precipitation.
Soil
Height: 14 meters. Evergreen tree. Leaves are simple, entire, rounded and glabrous. Inflorescence is raceme and terminal. Flower is conspicious, bisexual, zygomorphic, pink corolla. Unique feature is there are many stamens that are fused together in a curved structure extending from the carpel. The fruit is a berry, large (15cm diameter), brown, resembles a coconut.
