Growing in a planter box on the backside of a house in a residential area. Receives direct morning sun, and completely shaded in the afternoon. Receives about 152 cm of rain annually in Manoa Valley. Very damp and moist area. Slope of the garden planter box is flat and other vegetables growing around it (tomato, okra, celery) Average temperature of the area is 78 degrees Fahrenheit.

Height: 27cm. Shiny green plant with serrated narrow leaves. Phyllotaxy: opposite. Very fragrant, smelling a little like licorice and spices. The stems of the plant are purple and square shaped. Purple thyrse inflorescences with pink flowers opening up from it. Flowers very zygomorphic with an upper lip. 4 stamens.
