Description:
Evergreen tree, 12 m tall, irregular canopy. Leaves simple, alternate, elliptic with rounded apex and base, prominent midrib, glabrous. Inflorescence raceme, terminal, bracts present. Flower large, conspicuous, pink to reddish pink, 6-merous, bisexual, complete, synsepalous, apopetalous, hypogynous, petal base white; carpels 1, style absent; stamens numerous, monadelphous, forming a curved structure extended above carpel, filminess pink, sterile filaments white and surrounding carpel. Fruit large, brown, globose, berry.
