Aphelandra scolnikae is probably related to A. glabrata. A close examination of the specimens cited failed to reveal the least vestige of a corolla. Yet "flores amarillo-claras" constitutes a part of the data of the type sheet. The note that Barkley, Ríos, and Betancourt's No. 618 had "flores rojas," may have applied to red bracts, which were mistaken for corollas.
