Small, creeping perennial, usually 10-20 (70) cm long; calms decumbent-spreading, rooting at lower nodes, freely branching. Sheaths keeled, the margins usually densely ciliate; blades 2-10 (15) cm long, 6-12 mm wide, rounded at base, softly pubescent to nearly glabrous, the margins ciliate and scabrid, 1-8 peduncles arising from upper sheaths. Racemes solitary, 1-3.5 cm long; spikelets paired, piano-convex, short-pedicellate with scabrid pedicels, obovate, 1.3-1.7 mm long, glabrous; first glume ca 0.4 mm long, ciliate at the apex; second glume half as long as spikelet; sterile lemma as long as fruit.
